Steinbeck Wines

Paso Robles, California – On the east side of Paso Robles sits a 500 acre property that produces some of regions premium wine grapes…most of which are sold-off to various wineries.  The Steinbeck family has owned the land for over 125 years, however only a few very special parcels (1% of the property) are dedicate for Steinbeck wines.

During our visit we had the pleasure of being hosted by Cindy Steinbeck, the daughter of Howie Steinbeck, who only has been a leader in viticulture in Paso Robles since 1970.

Cindy toured us around the vast property via a restored military vehicle.  The tour we were on is dubbed the ‘Crash Course’… for the amount of info you will learn regarding Paso wine, the close encounters you experience during the journey and that a B-26 crashed on their property back in 1956.  Traveling around the property often reminded us of the Indiana Jones attraction at Disneyland, however a lot more educational!!

Too say Cindy is a wealth of knowledge is an understatement.  During our adventure we could not believe how much we learned about the region and the history of Steinbeck family.  The family is instrumental in the success of the Paso Robles region as they have been farming land in the region since 1884.

After our hour long experience around the vineyards we were ready for some tasting…and there wines really delivered.  Our favorite was appropriately named The Crash.

Due to the intimate nature of the experience please call ahead to book an appointment.
