Sonoma, California – Hidden in the Sonoma valley resides a relatively new winery on the scene however steeped with an understanding of entertainment and hospitality. Welcome to the Lasseter Family Winery founded by John and Nancy Lasseter. The approach at Lasseter is very simple…create blends that are wonderful to enjoy upon release and or stored for years to come. Master winemaker Julia Iantosca has partnered with the Lasseter Family to ensure this approach holds true.
Our visit to the Lasseter Family Winery was a complete 180 degree difference vs. the location of John Lasseter’s first job at Disneyland. The approach at Disneyland is to ensure that thousands of guests are looked after on a daily basis, however only a select few get to visit the winery on a daily basis.
Upon arrival our winery docent welcomed us to the property. The landscaping throughout the grounds was impeccable and the simple architecture of the winery facilities was stunning, similar to the design detail put into an attraction at Disneyland. We learned from our docent that we were the only ones that were scheduled for the tour / tasting as it is very important to the Lasseter’s that everyone leaves with a personalized experience.
For the first 45 minutes we walked the property and obtained an understanding how production is handled at the facility. Then it was on to the tasting / pairing portion of the experience. Over the next hour in a dinning room setting we enjoyed 5 new releases paired with meat and cheeses. Each of the wines were extremely approachable with grapes originating from some of the most notable AVA’s in the region. Throughout the experience the hospitality displayed be our wine docent was fantastic…very similar to the way Cast Members treat guests at Disneyland.
