Sonoma, California – High above the Sonoma hills within the Mayacamas mountain range sits Hanzell Vineyards. When visiting Hanzell be prepared for a very personalized, off-road, picturesque experience. Upon arrival to the vineyard we met up with our wine educator and off we went in his Land Rover to explore the vineyard. During our journey we trekked from block to block getting a clear understanding that maintaining vines on these hills is no easy task. We visited on a clear day and were able to take in views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.
There are not many wineries in the United States that can provide you an opportunity enjoy Chardonnay from the 70’s. Welcome to Hanzell Vineyards. The cellar collection is amazing. If you become a club member you will have the opportunity bottles from past vintages.
After our off-road journey we explored the wine making and bottling facilities. While many wineries are moving towards new methods Hanzell still believes in traditional production and bottling.
During the tour we visited the wineries barn where we conducted our exclusive tasting of current Hanzell releases. Situated overlooking the expansive vineyards it is by far one of the most picturesque views for a tasting experience.
Tasting experiences at Hanzell are extremely limited. Be sure to plan your visit to Hanzell in advance.
